Things to Do
Snorkeling
Crystal-clear waters and coral reefs are right off the coast. Most excursions include gear and a catamaran ride out.
ATV Tours
Ride through the countryside, mud trails, and sugar cane fields. One of the most popular day activities — book early.
Ziplining
Soar over the jungle canopy at Scape Park or Bávaro Adventure Park. Usually paired with cenote swimming.
Boat Parties
Catamarans with open bars, snorkel stops, and music. The perfect group activity — we might organize one ourselves.

What to Pack
Light Outfits
It’s the Caribbean in June. Think linen, cotton, flowy dresses. Leave anything heavy at home.
Sunscreen
SPF 50+, reef-safe if possible. The sun is no joke — reapply often, especially poolside and on the beach.
Bug Spray
Mosquitoes are active at dusk. Bring a good repellent or pick one up at the resort shop.
Breathable Fabrics
Linen shirts, cotton shorts, light layers for the evening. Humidity is high — dress for comfort first.

Local Tips
Currency
The Dominican Peso (DOP) is the local currency, but USD is widely accepted at the resort and most tourist areas.
Tipping
Tips aren’t required at all-inclusive resorts but go a long way. $1–2 USD for bartenders and housekeeping is the norm.
Safety
Stick to the resort and organized excursions. Don’t flash expensive items in town. Use the hotel safe for valuables.

About the DR
Weather
Tropical and humid year-round. June averages 27–31°C (80–88°F) with sun and the occasional quick rain shower.
Language
Spanish is the official language. English is widely spoken at the resort and in tourist areas.
Electricity
Same as Canada and the US: 110V, Type A & B plugs. Guests from Europe must bring an adapter.
Water & Food
Don’t drink the tap water — use the bottled water provided. Ice at the resort is filtered and safe.
Fun Fact
The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti and is the birthplace of bachata and merengue.
